About the course:

This course is designed to suit Business and individual needs in order to make the learning experience relevant and fit for purpose. It is designed to ensure that all employees are aware of their own safety, the safety of customers, contractors and the public. 

Course Content: 

  1. Understanding the principles of health and safety and accident prevention
  2. Ability to contribute to any health and safety management system
  3. Understand the importance of risk assessment as a technique for accident and ill health prevention
  4. Understand the responsibilities placed on employers and employees
  5. Understand the hazard, risk and main causes of harm to workers (manual handling, hazardous substances, exposure to noise and vibration)
  6. Understand the importance of following systems, procedures and rules
  7. Understand how individual action can reduce risks to health and safety
  8. Appreciate how workplace equipment and task design affect health and safety

 What are the entry requirements?

No formal entry requirement but learners are expected to have basic Literacy and Numeracy skills.

About the course:

This course is designed for anyone who wishes to gain moving and handling skills as well as those who are involved in manual handling in their workplace. This course will prepare and give students the confidence and skills needed in order to move residents safely in the workplace.

Course Content: 

  1. Understanding the principles of health and safety and accident prevention
  2. Causes of back pain
  3. Manual Handling Legislation
  4. Safe and unsafe Moving & Handling techniques
  5. Principles of lifting including Ergonomics
  6. Unsafe systems of work
  7. Equipment demonstrations & practice
  8. Manual Handling Risk Assessment

This course is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the relevant skills and knowledge about the concept of abuse and the legislative framework that underpins safeguarding children and adults as well as the steps to perform if you have a concern about an individual.

Course Content: 

  1. Understand what safeguarding means in the context of neglect, and physical, emotional or sexual abuse
  2. Understand the role of safeguarding adult, children and young people in England and Wales
  3. Understand the different types of abuse and how to recognise them
  4. Understand the key principles of legislation which protects adult, children and young people in England and Wales
  5. Understand the process for reporting suspected abuse

This IT course is suitable for those looking to gain basic understanding of computers and how they are used safely and productively. This course is aimed for beginners as it will equip learners with the skills and knowledge to carry out basic IT work. We run flexible tuition to suit the needs of our learners.

Course Structure:

This course consist of the following

  1. IT fundamentals
  2. Security for IT users
  3. Using email and the Internet

Course Content: 

IT User Fundamentals will cover the following:

  1. Manage and organise files and folders
  2. Maintain systems
  3. Manage print options
  4. Apply good practice regarding health and safety
  5. Understand security issues such as using passwords, backing up, virus protection
  6. Understand the laws that surround computer use such as copyright and data protection

Using the Internet and Email will cover the following: 

  1. Use the internet
  2. Use a web browser application
  3. Use the web to search for information and save or print a web page
  4. Understand electronic communication
  5. Send and receive emails
  6. Organise emails and add contact details to an address book

IT Security for Users will cover the following: 

  1. Know what “spam” is
  2. Understand how to maintain information and technological security
  3. Know where to find relevant guidelines and procedures
  4. Know ways to keep data secure

What are the entry requirements?

No formal qualifications, However learners are advised to have basic math and English skills.

Assessment Method:

Case Study – There will be a scenario which will be worked through on a computer using different computer software.

Qualification: College Certificate

Course Mode: Part Time

Duration: 5 weeks

Start Date: Every 2 months (Subject to availability)

About the course:

This IT course is suitable for those looking to build on the knowledge gained in level 1. Learners will be taught the core software applications required in the workplace. The course is made up of four modules which are: word processing software, spreadsheet software, presentation software and improving productivity using IT.

Course Structure:

This course consist of the following

  1. Word Processing
  2. Spread sheet Software
  3. Presentation Software

Course Content: 

Word Processing will cover how to:

  1. Use a word processing application such as Word to create documents
  2. Manipulate and format text
  3. Insert and manipulate images within a document
  4. Import objects and graphics
  5. Use mail merge tools
  6. Create, manipulate and format tables
  7. Preview and print documents

Spread sheets will cover how to:

  1. Understand the basic concepts of spread sheets
  2. Use a spread sheet application such as Excel to create a spread sheet
  3. Insert and format data
  4. Create, format and adjust charts
  5. Create formulae and functions and copy them to other cells
  6. Apply settings for printing

Presentations will cover how to:

  1. Create, format, modify and prepare presentations using different slide layouts using PowerPoint
  2. Duplicate and move text, images, charts
  3. Create and modify organisational charts
  4. Apply slide transitions and animation effects
  5. Apply slide designs using presentations and templates
  6. Apply various print options

What are the entry requirements?

Level 1 ITQ or equivalent

Case Study (There will be a scenario which will be worked through on a computer using different computer software)

Duration: 8 weeks
