This Apprenticeship is for anyone wishing to work within Children and young people sector in England. You will learn practical skills and knowledge relating to the role of an early years practitioner such as how to contribute to pupils' learning, behaviour management, support children with a range of needs and learn how to support children to reach their full potential. You will attend College one day a week in term time and the remaining time you will be working for your employer. You will also be visited and assessed in the workplace. This 12 month apprenticeship will give you the right start to a career in childcare.

What are the entry requirements?

You need 4 GCSEs at grade D or above including Maths and English.

Progression route

When you have achieved your Intermediate Apprenticeship framework you may be able to progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3)

Are there any additional costs?

Other costs would include the purchase of text books.

What are the training costs?

If you are aged 16 to 18 when you start your Apprenticeship Programme, there is no charge to you or your employer as this is fully funded by the government. If you are aged 19 or above when you start your Intermediate Apprenticeship, your employer will have to be willing to contribute as the Government will only fund part of the costs of your training. This will be discussed and agreed with your employer.
